🏙️ Mumbai Itinerary: 3 Days, 2 Nights

For this itinerary, we recommend basing yourself in South Mumbai (Colaba, Fort) for easy access to the historical sites, or Bandra for a trendier vibe.

Day 1: Colonial Grandeur and Coastal Views (South Mumbai)

Day one is dedicated to ticking off the most famous landmarks clustered in South Mumbai.

Morning (9:00 AM): Start at the iconic Gateway of India. Spend time appreciating the architecture before moving on to the majestic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel right next to it.

Late Morning: Visit the nearby Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) (formerly Prince of Wales Museum) for an excellent collection of art, archaeology, and natural history.

Lunch (1:00 PM): Head to a heritage restaurant in the Fort area or grab an iconic Vada Pav from a street vendor near a major station like Churchgate.

Afternoon: Explore the stunning Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station—a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Victorian Gothic architecture. Afterwards, walk through the historic Fort area to admire the architecture of the Bombay High Court and the University of Mumbai.

Morning (9:00 AM): Take a ferry from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Caves (a UNESCO site). This requires about 3-4 hours round trip, including the ferry ride, to explore the rock-cut cave temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.

OR (If skipping Elephanta): Visit the peaceful Hanging Gardens and Kamala Nehru Park on Malabar Hill for great views over Marine Drive.

Lunch: Have a quick but satisfying lunch at Leopold Cafe or Cafe Mondegar in Colaba for a final dose of Mumbai’s classic cafe culture.
